Antigua Guatemala
Antigua is a historical city located in a valley near City of Guatemala. Many years ago it was the capital of the country, but a big flood and an earthquake destroyed much of it. There are 3 volcanos that can be seen from the city: the Volcano of Fire, the Volcano of Water and the Volcano of Acatenango. The picture below is from a local hill called Cerro de La Cruz, and the volcano is the Fire one I guess.

The city is very like Paraty n Brazil, but a lot bigger and the cars can enter the city. It not a expensive as Paraty, and there are lots of spanish schools. I´m on one of them right now. I'm living in a house with 2 more students, Puil from London and Kasimir from Frankfurt. They are very nice. In the house lives a local family, a couple with 3 kids.
This is the Church of Mercedes. It very beautiful from the inside too. Its very old too, more than 300 years I guess.

Well my time here is actually cool, and I'm leaving Antigua on the wekend.
I miss Brasil!!!

The first ruins...
Hello all
This post is about some ruins I've visited with the company. They are the ruins of Iximche, located about 100km from City of Guatemala. The city was founded in 1470, by Mayan Indians, and found by the spanish in 1524. I guess I don't need to say that the spanish soon robbed and slaughtered the Mayans, but that is not my fault.
The city is not big, only for 4000-5000 habitants. They have a special altar only for sacrifices. Human sacrifices. They also have a ball field, where they used to play ball games. Detail: the ball was made of stone.
Below is one picture of the place there. It was not taken by me, but it illustrates the place very well.

This I did on last friday. On saturday we climbed a volcano, but the weather was very bad and we could not see 5m in front of our faces and we had to get down before the top. Its a shame, but we will go back there in a very short future.
Thats all for now.

My house in Guatemala
Well, I'll tell you a little more about the house I live in Guatemala.
I´t's not a small house, it has 3 big rooms in the upper floor. It has a big living room, a dinner room, a medium kitchen. I live in a separate room, that is smal, but I have my own bathroom and an office, that I can use to whatever I wish (as I dont have a computer, I wont use it I guess).
There is a tv in the house, with cable (about 70 channels). The kitchen has a fridge and a good oven. There are lots of tea and spices all over the kitchen. Not something that I like very much. Oh, there are lots and lots of books in the house. Most of them in german, and some in spanish.
I live with Magdalene, that is an old german lady that lives in Guate for more than 30 years. She occasionally have guests, but she won't have any for quite a long time. That is very bad.
The house is in a horizontal house set. It is guarded my armed men, and has many houses. More than 100.
In front of the house set there is a very big avenue, with many cars all day, and is quite dangerous, but near here there are many stores, shopping center, supermarket and all these things. In a 2km radious there are 3 McDonalds.
Well, I'm feeling quite lonely nowadays, bt I hope it gets better with time.
I miss many of you from Brasil.

My first day in Guatemala
Hello everybody!!!
In my first day in Guatemala, still in the airport, Silvia, Otto and Elisa went to pick me up and then we went to a very tipical restaurat, Los Hotdogs del Liceo. Its a very small restaurant, the tables are in the pavement, its funny. The waiters and the cooker sta in the street where the cars park, and if you will eat in their restaurant they give place to you, hehehe.
The food is good, its a sandwich with sausage, repollo (dont know the word for it in english), mayonese and abacate. Yes, abacate cream with lemon in the hotdog. I drank a local soft drink called Squirt, that is made of lemon and is very good.
After that we went to a place where Otto works with his dad (Otto is a ex-trainee that was in Estonia), I met his dad and so on. Then we went to see where I was supposed to live, its a house in a horizontal condominio (damn, Im starting to forget some words in english, :D ). The woman who lives there is called Magdalene, is an old german lady. She always have hosts there, from all over the world. The house is nice, I´ll talk about it more on a later post.
Then we went to Novartis to meet Marcio. He´s a nice guy, treated me very well. I also met some of others of the department I´m going to work.
We went to the house of Silvia (she is a member of a GI of another university of Guatemala, she has only 3 months of aiesec), and I met her mom, Silvia too, and ate a thing made of eggs and meat, like a chinese roll, its very good
In the night we went to a bar called La Playa and had some beers. There is a beer in Guate called Gallo. There is also a beer called Brahva, that is actually our Brahma de Brasil. We ate nachos (they are generous, its like 2 packs of doritos with a lot of sauce all over it, including beans, abacate, cebolla, meatand cheese) and some mozzarella pieces fried with spice. Its good, but expensive. The beer in Guate costs 3 times as in Brasil.
Well, thats it for today
See you all in Brasil, Guate or in somewhere over the world.

My trip to Guatemala
Hello to all my friends, familiars and respective pets that may be reading this
This is a journal about my trip to Guatemala (more precisely, the first day)
Well, I recommend to everyone thet will take a flight on Guarulhos in the night to take someone to talk to. That thing is desert during the night, nothing to do - not evena cyber cafe!!
Continuing, after 3 hours waiting I took the plane. Once inside, I sat on 10C. After a few minutes, other guy came to me and said: I have 10C too. Then I talked to the stewardess and she put me on the Executive part of the plane: nice chairs (bigger, much bigger), nice food and so on. I could sleep a little on my flight to Panama.
Once in Panama, I wandered by the airport - It looks like a duty free mall. It looks like USA - me not like it, hehehe.
Then waiting more one hour I entered on the flight to Guatemala - Copa Airlines have very small seats and I couldnt sleep. After 2 hours we landed in Guatemala. The airport is small, maybe the size of Londrina's.
The AIESEC people were a little late, but in 5min they got there and we went to a restaurant.
Thats it, my trip. I'm on cyber cafe, and it costs about 3 reais an hour, and we are going shopping in 2min.
I don't miss Brasil yet, I only miss the people from Brasil... =D
