My first months back in Brazil

Hello you all,

If you are persistent enough to keep reading this, or you have nothing else to do, ora ny other reason, CONGRATULATIONS!

You are reading a very good blog from a Brazilian back to Brazil after one year in Guatemala.

Well, as soon as I got here, I went to the CONAL, a national conference, as a Group of Interest of my city, Londrina. Me and Lilian (see picture above) are with a project of opening this new AIESEC comitee. It’s very challenging, mainly because I am the Team Leader so far. Maybe this could change, who knows.

Besides that, many people ask me about cultural shock of getting back to my country. It’s strange, but I feel like I really never got my mind out of Brazil. I love my country too much, I used to read the newspaper in the internet every day (more than I do here), and talk to friends and familiars all the time (I used to work with internet all day).

I could say Brazil is a little changed. Just a little, and I am the big change here. Yes, I have changed a lot. More than I expected. For the best, I hope.

I really missed the food from here. Now I miss speaking spanish. I spoke spanish every day in Guatemala, now I hardly ever read something in spanish, and sometimes I speak to some of my friends from there. I miss some of them also, but it’s all part of the exchange experience.

Well, I still am somehow connected to AIESEC. Anyone willing to contact me, please find my contacts on the top of this page.

By the way, I already have a job (only 45 days without one), and earning my money again!!!

Hugs and Kisses!!

Finishing the Saga

Finishing an era...

Yeah, I am here for almost 11 months... in 16 days I take my plane home.

Can't wait. I know that I'm gonna miss here, but right now I really miss home.

What can be said? This experience is AMAZING! I really recommend it. Despite of all bad things that happen, a person really learns a lot, have lots of fun, make great new friends, get to know some amazing places in our little planet you have never dreamed of.

And also you get to know a different culture: in your work, in your personal life, everything.

No photos this post, sorry. Next one I promise some pictures of Semuc Champey, a paradise here.

Am I different? A little bit. But for sure I've changed for better. Definetly. Ok, my long hair doesn't please everybody, but noone is perfect. hehehe.

I guess one of the best things I've learned here is to take happiness from the small things. The little details you never pay attention to. Now I do. Much more.

Ok, I love life. I love many things. Life is beautiful. Not perfect, Beautiful!

That's it.

For the portuguese-speaking people, I have some photos with comments in portuguese in www.fotolog.com/danielblaia

Cheers! Salut! Prösit! Saúde! Nasdrovia!

People

Hello you all...

following an idea from a friend, lets put some people on this post.

Elisa - The first person from guatemala I've met. Very nice friend! A walking AIESEC enciclopedia, hehehe. This is on her birthday, drinking ron.

Ana Luisa, other person I met when I arrived. Very nice friend, she likes to dance a lot, also reggaton(obviusly noone is perfect, hehe)

Tito - This guy is the funniest. I like him a lot, very nice friend. We used to play football together, go out drinking and partying. He went to Brasil for a month, got to know a little of my culture. Cool.

Renée - The girl from Costa Rica. Another great friend. She gets a little angry sometimes, but I get over it and also tease her. hehehe. She still likes me, so it means she likes me teasing her. She is the current MCP, very smart girl.

Cesar and Maria - Cesar is a colombian, also a trainee here, and a very cool friend. Hes so stupid, but I like him. Maria is from here, but she is very nice. We have little fights, but thats the funny part of it. Like them a lot.

Cristian (we dont have much contact, but always a good drinking partner), Ahmid(good friend, we sometimes do stuff together, we are alike in some ways. very funny), Tito, Luis Mario (other good friend. A liitle busy, we don't see each other very often, but a smart guy. he will visit me home!) and Nito, (Tito's brother, but they are very different. Very smart guy, a nice sense of humor and we also plays football together. he also said will visit me).

Sergio, Nina and Marta. Sergio was a trainee in CR. Nice guy, very funny. He's almost living in my house, specially in the weekends. hehehe. Nina - german girl, very funny with an accurate sense of humor and good taste for music. Nice girl, I'll visit her in Germany. Marta - rough polish-german girl. She is smart and so, but not someone I could call a friend of mine(we only live in the same house by accident).

I could have forgotten some people, but its not because I don' like you, but its because I am lazy. hehehe. People who I appreciate know that.

Thats it folks...

see ya...

More AIESEC

Hello you all,

Not many news lately... nore pictures, since they are all in other people's camera...

One good thing is that I was selected as a Faci in the bi-nacional SDL Guatemala/El Salvador, in the TtT (Train the Trainers) agenda. I'm very happy with that, and it rewards all the effort I've put in AIESEC and mostly in Guatemala, where everybody always recognized me for my skills.

Thank you, @Guatemala.

The conference is on 27-29 October...

On 14th december I'm returning to Brazil, so on the 15th I should be back home... A little more than 2 months awaits me.

November is a big mistery for me here. There are still some places I'd like to visit, but I must also think about money. I have to buy presents to lots of people, specially familiars, friends and my girlfriend Cássia, who has a birthday tomorrow, October 12th...

Love you!!

For the ones who read my last post, I'm a little better. Now, finding strenghts for this final sprint of this very singular year of my life!

Next week I'll try to post some pictures.

Thanks for reading, feel free to comment.

Still miss Brazil...

9 Months - Review

Hello you all...

9 months... ready to give birth... or not

Well, the situation here could be seen as good: I have roommates (Nina from Germany and Marta from Poland/Germany), I have more friends, there are more trainees here in Guatemala.

But in the other hand, I still am disappointed with my work. I guess I think I was never really happy with what I do here. Sometimes I question myself If I really should keep on the Information Technology field. I like it, but I think my human skills are also good and could be used better, and I also don't like many things in the IT field.

I guess I miss home a lot again, after some time not missing it too much, now I feel like going there again.

Also problems with Novartis(the company I work) and AIESEC, sometimes I guess the only thing that keeps me from leaving is the commitment between me, AIESEC and Novartis. And the company is really trying to break the chain (last year there were 10 trainees, this year only me and next year...?)

Today I was thinking about it: If Novartis itself don't want to work with AIESEC anymore, what about me?

I don't know how to say it differently, but I can't see why someone would like to leave its country to live here in Guatemala. The place is so unfriendly, specially to foreigners... Even for the local people travelling is almost the ultimate dream. Yesterday I was talking with a colombian and an argentinian. We were discussing about Guatemala, and we couldn't find many good points about living here. The best thing about the country are the landscapes and places to see: volcanos, lakes, mountains, mayan ruins.

That's sad, and makes you wonder: what am I doing here?

Well, sorry for the sad post folks. It is my reality, I am sad.

Hope everything gets better soon.

Please leave comments, maybe they can help me cheer up or take a decision.

Brazil, still miss u!

Tikal, the Mayan Adventure

Hello u all...

this post is only to report my trip to Tikal National Park, Petén, Guatemala

It is the greates Mayan site that we are able to visit... there are some others, but they are not completely explored, and it would demand a 5-day trip, time that I dont have... :(

Well, we were 9 in the trip: me and Lilian from Brasil, Cesar from Colombia, Kemly from Costa Rica, Ahmid from Guatemala, Christa from Holland, Micka and Nina from Germany and Marta from Poland...

It was amazing, I had a wonderful time and would do it all over again...

the pics:

This is a view of the Lake Flores, Petén... The city is an island on the middle of this lake. On this picture we are in a small village, having our typical breakfast... Mainly eggs, platanos, coffe and tortillas.

On some ruins, with Cesar and Marta... amazing place... It was a very large city, with temples and houses yet to be discovered buried on the jungle...

Looks the Temple V... very very big... I'm attempting to climb it, but I couldnt make it to the top... some vertigo problems... in the detail, Kemly from CR

Me and Cesar, we are on the top of a temple, looking straight to another one... WONDERFUL!!!

Well, I really recommend it... One of the TOP 3 places in Guatemala...

That's it...

Still miss Brazil...

thanks for the ones who read it, pleas leave comments...

Monterrico and more

Hey you all

Congratulations for reading this... you are one of the few survivors that still read my blog... hehehe

I'll keep a record of what is happening here...

Now I'm living with a german - Nina - and a polish - Martha... the boyfrien of Nina - Micka - is here for 1 month, and he's a very funny guy, we drink beer almost every day hehehe...

Well, in the last weeks I've travelled a lot... here I'll post some photos of the day I went to the Beach with Cesar and Angel.

Me and Cesar in the beach...

Angel, me and Cesar, in a bar called 'El Animal Desconocido' - The Unknown Animal

The day after, with a terrible hangover eating marvelous seafood... very cheap also, 4 dollars each individual plate...

Well, after a great time in the beach this week, we went home to a great birthday party of Miryam, the mom of Ezequiel, the guy from Argentina...

Well, that's it...

I'll post something soon this week or the other one...

See ya
